Skin Tightening Lasers, Antiaging Solution
Skin tightening lasers are growing in popularity. This cosmetic surgery process is referred to as, laser skin tightening. It uses radioactive energy and laser heat, to remove signs of aging, such as fine lines and wrinkles. Laser skin techniques tend to be expensive, but it is one of the safest and least invasive methods to combat the symptoms of aging.
Some people try to fend off wrinkles, lines and sagging skin with anti-aging lotions and creams. Many are very effective, but it can be months before the results become apparent. Other anti-aging alternatives include chemical peels and surgical facelifts, but these can be painful and can potentially lead to serious side effects.
People who want to improve their appearance, may wonder if they are good candidates to skin tightening lasers. The first thing to realize is, skin tightening procedures work for people of all skin tones and skin types.
It also works well on both genders. If the skin around your neck, face or abdomen is sagging, you’re a good candidate for this procedure. The same is true if your skin is lined or wrinkled and you’d like to have it tightened.
Keep in mind, though, that being a suitable candidate doesn’t mean you can have your laser skin tightening procedure as soon as you make an appointment. You need to have a consultation with your surgeon before any type of cosmetic surgery or procedure, and it’s no different with laser skin treatments. Your surgeon will prepare you for the treatment during this consultation. There might be a waiting period of 30 days or so after your consultation.
Patients are typically advised by their surgeons to avoid exposure to direct sunlight for three or four weeks before being treated with skin tightening lasers. If that’s next to impossible in light of your lifestyle and/or location, wear a good sunscreen with a high SPF each time you go outdoors. In addition, many surgeons instruct their patients to stop using skin moisturizers, creams and lotions prior to their procedure. Products containing vitamin A as one of their ingredients are especially important to avoid. You might need to significantly change your usual skincare practices.
On the big day, your skin will be thoroughly cleansed to remove all oils, makeup and dirt immediately before your laser skin tightening procedure. The next step involves applying a topical anaesthetic and giving you protective eye wear, which you should wear during the entire procedure. Once you’re ready, the surgeon will glide the skin lasers gently over your skin.
Simultaneously, the machine will release cool air and very high intense light. The cool air prevents the skin from burning, and the light gives out a controlled heat, which reaches deep into the layers of skin.
Treatment with skin lasers has several benefits. The procedure is highly effective for eradicating or lessening the wrinkles, fine lines and sagging skin that can be the result of weight loss or the aging process. The discomfort is usually minimal, but your practitioner can prescribe a pain reliever if you feel substantial discomfort.
The only con to skin tightening lasers is the cost of the treatment. Patients usually have to go through 3-4 treatments, with one month gaps in between. You can expect to spend anywhere between $500-$3,500 per treatment. A person’s age and skin condition, determines how many treatments it may or may not need to receive maximum results.
