You are one of many if you struggle with oily skin, especially with the skin on your face and you seem to suffer from a perma-sheen. It feels (and, frankly, looks) unattractive to walk around with an oily shiny face all day. It’s possible that you’ve been operating under the assumption that heavy layers of makeup can hide the problem. Wiping it away with a nearby piece of paper, a napkin or even your hand is an even worse idea. By the way, using your hand on your face is always a terrible idea and you shouldn’t do it unless you have no other option. You’re basically only be wiping the oil that is on your hand onto your face and making it dirtier. What you need to do is understand a bit more concerning your skin, proper skin care, plus a few other things we’re about to tell you.
There are some products that pull double duty: they clean your pores and treat your oil production levels. You can use natural products that are made to lower the amount of oil your glands produce. An overall strategy to stay well-hydrated, with filtered water, will also help with this. You do this so that you will decrease the amount of activity done by your oil glands. If your skin is dry, the oil glands make more oil to even things out. Don’t be fooled and think that you aren’t a little bit dehydrated simply because you don’t “feel” like you are. If your hair gets oily quickly, shampoo it every day. The reasoning behind this is that it will help keep the oil on the hair close to your forehead and cheeks instead of making it more likely for a transfer to happen.
If you love wearing makeup, are you sure that you have chosen products that won’t worsen your condition? Do you wear heavy makeup? If you wear a ton of makeup, you either change the amount you wear or commit to working harder to cleanse your skin. This is because it is possible that your skin is making more oil than usual in an attempt to clean the heavy makeup out of your pores. Be careful to read the ingredients on your products because using oil based products could exacerbate the problem. The main reason for this is that you don’t want to keep fueling the fire.
Washing your face in pure water, particularly when you do not have any makeup on is the best thing to do. We cringe at the notion of using plain old tap water in the US because our water hosts fluoride and chlorine. Filtered water is the best option in this case. Using a faucet mounted water purifier is a good way to make sure your water doesn’t have chlorine. Chlorine can really dry out your skin and you don’t want that! Then, as we always say, use a water-based moisturizer lightly on your face. Water rids your skin of impurities like dirt and the moisturizer keeps your skin moist and not dry.
After you’ve made some positive changes to the way you care for your skin, you should see great results like the end to your oily skin at work issue. It doesn’t take a lot of time and you’ll be really happy with the changes!
