Learn how to get rid of razor bumps today by shaving correctly every time you shave. Many people, mainly people of color or with curly hair get razor bumps a couple of days after they shave. This is for the most part caused by an improper shaving technique.

You can find any number of products online or offline that do work to get rid of razor bumps. However these products need to be used in combination with the right shaving regimen. If you already have ingrown hairs then it’s certainly a good idea to use one of these products to try to lessen the irritation. If you treat the bumps you do have before shaving there will be less of a chance of the problem becoming worse after you shave.

A tweezer can also come in handy when you are trying to free ingrown hairs. You can use the tweezer to excavate any hairs which may be embedded just underneath a top layer of skin. The hair should only be freed and not taken out completely in order to avoid further skin problems.

Treating razor bumps will not solve the problem alone, you need to prevent the razor bumps if you really want to get rid of them. A different shaving routine is necessary in order to prevent them.

Use the steps that follow when you shave and you will soon see a difference in the amount of razor bumps you have.

* Get a gentle face scrub and use it to wash your face anytime you are going to shave. The scrub will gently remove layers of skin and this in turn will help you get a closer shave.

* You should shave after you shower and not before you shower. The heat from the shower will soften your hairs as well as open your pores. You can also apply a hot towel around your face and leave it on for a few minutes to get the same result.

* Shaving oil should be used before you shave.

* I use a pre-shaving oil along with a shaving gel when I shave. I’ve stopped using the foaming shaving creams and stick to a non-foaming gel or cream. The combo of pre-shave oil and gel or cream lead to easier shaving.

* If you use disposable razors use new ones every single time you shave. If you use a non disposable razor make sure it’s sharp before you shave. This is important to get rid of your bumps.

* Shave in the direction of your hair growth. Never go against the grain.

When I’m done shaving I use cold water to rinse with. Rinsing with cold water closes the pores.

* Instead of using a traditional after shave I’ll use something like witch hazel or tend skin liquid.

* Apply a post shave moisturizer, preferably one that also contains SPF.

Some people believe that the more you shave the more likely you will suffer from razor bumps. In truth if you always shave with a razor that is not dull and follow the above steps you will have less bumps.

If you take time to follow these steps every time you shave your bumps will clear in no time.
