If you have ever been the victim of these blemishes, how to get rid of blackheads is bound to be your first thought. Blackheads look like black or dark specks on your skin, most usually around the nose area. They are actually the contents of a clogged pore that has become dark due to oxidisation that happens when this matter becomes exposed to the air.
There are different views on how to get rid of blackheads. “Popping” the blackhead gets rid of the trapped oil, which relieves the pressure that is causing the damage to the skin. Care must be taken not to apply too much pressure, however, as this could cause scarring and make the skin look even worse. Harsh squeezing of them is not recommended, but very gentle pressure applied to the surrounding area is thought to be the simplest, more effective method.
Blackhead strips or pore strips as they are sometimes called are very popular for dealing with blackheads on the nose. Take care when removing the strip from your nose; if it seems to be difficult to remove, add water and take your time. If you experience pain or discomfort, stop using the strips immediately.
One of the best ways to get rid of blackheads is to gradually bring them to the surface of the skin by using a daily facial scrub and exfoliating regularly. Once the blackhead appears on the surface, take a piece of tissue and hold it over the blackhead; use the tips of both index fingers to apply even pressure to either side of the blackhead. Try to apply the pressure from underneath the blemish. If the blackhead does not “pop” after a couple of attempts, leave it alone.
A method of extracting blackheads used by professionals is to use a blackhead extractor tool. These are widely available for home use and if you are very gentle, you can get good results. Sterilize the blackhead extractor before use, and follow the exact instructions from the manufacturer. Most extractors are placed directly over the blackhead, with a layer of facial tissue in between. A careful press of the head of the extractor should hopefully “pop” the blackhead and remove it quite easily.
It will be a matter of persevering with your skin care routine if you want to have clear skin, free of blackheads. How to get rid of blackheads is a question that there is no single solution to but it is certain that the most essential thing is to keep pores clear and clean so that blackheads cannot develop. There is no single treatment or product that can absolutely guarantee to solve the problem overnight, but if you look after your skin, you will regain your clear complexion and feel more confident.
